Chandler, 8 in his translation of the Ortus (Oriatrike, ) renders Pleura furens as ‘a raging or mad Pleura’ – a fair translation of the words, though perhaps not. The first (66) of these two chapters is labelled Puerilis Humoristarum vindicta – A Childish Vindication of the Humorists in the 17th century English translation of Helmont’s book (Helmont Oriatrike 9). Helmont first says that he has previously published a number of works – On Fountai ns, On Fevers, On the Stone and On Plague.
